To Piedras
To Laredo

This page contains general information you will need to go on a mission trip.   When you sign up to go on a trip, you will likely receive information (e.g., departure times and eating arrangements) that is specific to the trip you are going on.

Important Information

Departure
Trips leave from the HPBC parking lot on Friday night (typically 5:30pm or 6:00pm).   Find our from the trip organizer if you need to eat before hand or if the group is planning to stop for dinner.
Nuevo Laredo and Piedras Negras are about 240 miles (five hours).  The vans will stop in Lytle and Batesville for breaks.
If you choose, you can drive your personnel car.  People that can not stay for the entire weekend often use this option.  However, you will likely find the trip more enjoyable if you do not have the stress of dealing with your automobile.  Look for maps to the left.
Things that are provided
The HPBC River Ministry fund will provide meals prepared in the kitchen (typically breakfast and dinner), sandwiches on work days, gasoline, ice chest which you can put drinks in, and lodging.
Things you need to bring
You may need money for dinner on the way down, lunch on the way back, or shopping.   If we stop on the road for a meal, it will usually be at a fast food restaurant.
You will need to bring your toiletries, a towel, a pillow, a sleeping bag, and possibly an air mattress.  If we are staying at the Missionary Training Center in Piedras Negras, bunk beds are provided.  You will still need to bring linens and possibly a pillow.
Bring a set of work clothes suitable for the work that is planned and a nice casual outfit for church.
You may want to bring snack foods, bottled water, or a six pack of drinks
Return
We typically get back to the HPBC parking lot around 6:00pm on Sunday evening.  It is likely that we will stop for dinner on the way back at a fast-food restaurant.
